(CSF) Computer Science workshop

Code.org's Computer Science Fundamentals courses blend online and "unplugged" non-computer activities to teach students computational thinking, problem solving, programming concepts and digital citizenship.The course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, pedagogy, overviews of the online curriculum and teacher dashboard, as well as strategies for teaching "unplugged" classroom activities. In addition recieve resources for student competitions, clubs and scholarships. Earn credit hours towards CSS endorsement and/or credential.
 
A Cultural Shift in Computer Science - How can we as educators encourage the next Computer Scientists?

Systemic cultural change is needed in technology and computing to increase the opportunities for all students to achieve greatness in these fields. There are barriers and biases that are integrated into the beliefs and policies of the technology ecosystem that can be difficult for some students to break through. Creating a Culture of Inclusivity starts that change while students are in school. Learn more about how to create lasting cultural change to improve student opportunities.

Change Management

Change is hard, but it doesn't have to be when incorporating computer science into your curriculum. Learn how the Change Management process using the ADKAR model (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement) can ease the transition for administrators, teachers, and students. Change Management can enhance the skills of your staff that will allow new ideas and innovations to flourish in your school.
 
Coding with iPads

Computational Thinking

This session is based on the CYBER.ORG Computational Thinking curriculum which incorporates the four elements of computational thinking (decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm design) in a project-based approach to learning within core subject areas. Teachers will learn how to embed computational thinking vocabulary and skills into everyday learning experiences into their classroom.
 
CSD (Computer Science Discoveries) workshop

The Code.org Professional Learning Program is designed to promote growth by providing space for you to become comfortable with curricular materials, CS content, and pedagogy. The program supports teachers with diverse teaching backgrounds as they prepare to teach CS Discoveries. This is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. The curriculum is recommended for middle and high school students (grades 6-10), and can be taught either as a semester or full-year offering. In addition receive resources for student competitions, clubs and scholarships. Earn credit hours towards CSS endorsement and/or credential.
 
CSP (Computer Science Principles) workshop

The Code.org Professional Learning Program is designed to promote growth by providing space for you to become comfortable with curricular materials, CS content, and pedagogy. The program supports teachers with diverse teaching backgrounds as they prepare to teach CS Principles. Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. More than a traditional introduction to programming, it is a rigorous, engaging, and approachable course that explores many of the foundational ideas of computing so all students understand how these concepts are transforming the world we live in. In addition, receive resources for student competitions, clubs and scholarships. Earn credit hours towards CSS endorsement and/or credential.
 
Cybersecurity Basics

CYBER.ORG’s Cybersecurity Basics introduces middle school students to the foundational concepts of cybersecurity through immersive modules. The course covers Computing Systems (CS), Digital Citizenship (DC), and Security (SEC) to provide students with a basic understanding of cybersecurity. Teachers will explore this new course to understand how they can incorporate these concepts into their classrooms.
 
Cybersecurity Foundations for Your Classroom (Palo Alto Networks workshop)
Presented by: Nick See or Matt Frohlich, Bismarck State College
After completion of this session teachers will be able to join the Palo Alto Networks Academy and have access to resources for students and schools giving them the starting blocks for a career pathway in cybersecurity. In the Cybersecurity Foundation course, teachers will learn fundamental principles associated with the current cybersecurity landscape and identify concepts required to recognize and potentially mitigate attacks against enterprise networks as well as mission critical infrastructure. Teachers will also learn how to initially setup and configure interfaces, security zones, authentication, and policies on a next generation firewall.
 
Cybersecurity with micro:bits

Explore cybersecurity skills through coding on the micro:bit. We will take a quick tour of the cybersecurity blocks CYBER.ORG has created for MakeCode then dive into Communicating and Encrypting with Python on the micro:bit. A basic understanding of a micro:bit is encouraged.
